The Shohei Otani sweepstakes is currently taking over the baseball world, with Otani requesting a written letter from each team explaining why he should sign with them. The reigning Pacific League MVP will be posted in early December, with teams having three weeks to sign him.

Why is Otani so sought after? Because he can do this with his arm.

And this with his bat

Video emerged this week of Otani showing signs of dominance as early as his middle school days. His smooth mechanics and blazing fastball are on display here, leaving this poor hitter without a chance.

Don’t feel bad of the hitter; his fate was similar to most of his teammates. Otani pitched six inning in this game, recording 17(!!) strikeouts. Shohei Otani, named the Japanese Babe Ruth, will be in the Major Leagues next year. The Otani sweepstakes will be interesting to follow in the coming months.
