Major League Baseball is known for its vast history of facial hair. Rollie Fingers popularized the moustache, while Goose Gossage brought the Fu Manchu look to baseball. In the past few decades, beards have become more and more popular.

Brian Wilson had one of the most recognizable beards during his playing days, with Dallas Keuchel taking the title of active beards. But not far behind is Jake Arrieta, whose beard makes his stuff look even more intimidating.

But every offseason, Arrieta gets rid of his beard and begins to grow a new one. His wife recently shared a picture of a new beardless Arrieta, and it is a sight. Prepare yourself.

I know what you’re thinking; there is no way that’s Arrieta. He doesn’t look a thing like the Cy Young award winner we are all used to. Hopefully it grows back soon, this whole clean shaven thing is just weird.
