Chicago Cubs top prospect Eloy Jimenez is a strong man. The 20-year-old is hitting .278/.381/.546 for the Class A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, including seven big flies. He has even drawn comparisons to Giancarlo Stanton. You might remember him as the Cubs outfield prospect that flew over the wall while making a catch during the Futures Game last year.

During the Carolina Leagues Home Run Derby last night, Jimenez put on a show. But during the first round, Jimenez channeled his inner Roy Hobbs and smashed a light in deep left center field. Yes, he broke a light. Check out the video below and keep an eye on the bottom right of the light structure.

The fact that you can hear the bulb pop and shatter from 400+ feet away is astonishing. Unfortunately, Jimenez wasn’t able to trot the bases in slow motion with epic music with the light shattering behind him like Hobbs did, but its still pretty awesome. Despite hitting this monstrous blast, Jimenez did not win the derby. Jake Gatewood, the Brewers number 25 prospect, took home the crown

You gotta feel bad for the intern that has to climb that light pole and change that light blub and pick up the shattered one. I’m sure he wont be buying a Eloy Jimenez jersey any time soon.
